ABE Adult Career Pathways is designed to improve reading and math skills and to prepare students to enter training programs, college or the workforce. Funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, in partnership with the Central Massachusetts Workforce Investment Board, Workforce Central Career Center, and area manufacturing companies, this ABE class focuses on preparation for the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) or the college Accuplacer tests. The curriculum is contextualized to provide workplace readiness, SCANS content (Skills Necessary for the Workplace) and basic manufacturing skills (electrical schematics, cable & wire harness assembly, etc.), knowledge and practical experience. It also provides students residing in the greater Worcester area with survival and life skills, advanced skills training, and post-secondary education opportunities.
