On Wednesday, June 26, 2019, the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) held award ceremonies at the Massachusetts State House in Boston to highlight and recognize successful achievements by TAFDC recipients enrolled in DTA-funded Competitive Integrated Employment Service (CIES), Young Parents (YPP), and SNAP Path to Work programs operated by DTA vendors including Training Resources of America, Inc. (TRA). Participants were recognized for attaining a stepping stone to self-sufficiency via industry-recognized certificates, high school equivalency credentials, employment, transfers to college, etc.

DTA Commissioner Jeff McCue and Associate Commissioner Amy Kershaw, among others, were on hand to present the awards.

In all, eight TRA DTA program participants from TRA Brockton and New Bedford sites received recognition certificates: Shameka Diaby-Sinkler (Brockton SNAP) who brought along her daughter Maliyah Diaby, Alexis Medeiros (NB YPP), Xiomara Morales (NB YPP), Carolyn Moseley (Brockton SNAP), Jaonna Silva (NB YPP), Yesmine Vieira (NB YPP), Kirah Watkins (Brockton CIES), and Lyndia West (Brockton CIES).

According to TRA President/ CEO Kim Harmon who attended the ceremony, “It was a fabulous day at the State House. TRA’s program participants were very pleased to be acknowledged for their accomplishments by Commissioner Jeff McCue and Associate Commissioner Amy Kershaw. TRA is very appreciative of being a long-term provider of these programs that empower individuals to pursue further opportunities leading to self-sufficiency for themselves and their families.”
