The second presentation of the 2016 “Scientists in the Classroom” series continued on June 9th with Aldo Glean, Senior Research Engineer in the Acoustics Group, and Christina Sheng, Research and Development Co-op in the Abrasives Materials Group, (from Saint-Gobain's R&D Center) visiting the Worcester YouthBuild classroom.

Aldo and Christina each shared their personal and career path journeys to date, talked about the work they are doing at Saint-Gobain R&D Center, heard about the students' interests and goals, and answered a lot of questions. They then worked one-on-one with students as YouthBuild Instructor Adrianna Buduski presented a lesson on Polynomials and Rational Expressions.

The session was very much enjoyed by both students and the Saint-Gobain volunteers! Below are some quotes...

"Thank you so much for this opportunity. You guys have a great group of students and I really enjoyed interacting with them. It was truly a wonderful experience and I am always willing to help in any way I can." ~ Aldo Glean

"Yes, the students are great! Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to share, chat, and get to know them." ~ Christina Sheng

"I liked that Christina and Aldo really took time to ask us about ourselves. Sometimes when people do that I feel like they don't care, but they asked us specific questions." ~ Yvan Tiako

"Hearing Aldo talk about how far he has come, especially moving to a different country and still being so successful, inspired me to work harder." ~ Jordan Martinez

"I liked that they could laugh with us...usually when I think of a scientist I think they are very serious." ~ Alex Tayler

THANK YOU ALDO AND CHRISTINA!

AND THANK YOU SAINT-GOBAIN/ CERTAINTEED FOR MAKING "SCIENTISTS IN THE CLASSROOM" POSSIBLE!
