Make a difference and work at a non-profit that assists youth and adults in achieving education, skills training, and employment goals! Training Resources of America, Inc. is hiring part-time evening ABE Instructors for their Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) funded program in Worcester.

• provides ABE instruction to students enrolled in the DESE-funded ABE Program to enable them to progress through levels of the curriculum until they are ready to pass the High School equivalency test, and/ or exit the program to pursue college transition, college, skills training and/ or employment;
• designs lesson plans which integrate strands, standards and benchmarks identified in the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks;
• implements lesson plans by providing high quality instruction that uses research-based methodologies;
• evaluates student performance using teacher created or site provided assessment tools, participates in the development of curriculum as well as the design and implementation of individualized and group activities;
• provides individualized instruction/ attention to students as needed to facilitate learning;
• manages student computer-based learning programs including reporting of completed work; prepares and logs daily lesson plans;
• documents academic and career goal attainment via progress forms and goal attainment forms;
• completes teacher self-evaluation form and develops an annual professional development plan;
• participates in required or recommended professional development opportunities.

Qualifications: BA/ BS degree and computer literacy required. Massachusetts State Teacher Certification and 1-2 years’ experience as a teacher preferred. Multi-cultural, bi-lingual candidates desirable. This job requires the ability to relate/ communicate with a diverse, multi-cultural population with varying needs/ issues. It also requires initiative, creativity and strong organizational skills to cultivate and present the various curricula. It requires flexibility and the ability to produce required results in students, as well as the ability to work closely with staff in a team approach to achieve overall program goals.
