Nicko Cochrane is a get-it-done kind of guy. Originally from the South, he owned and managed a restaurant, working every position necessary to keep it running, including the head cook. Nicko also proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged.

He later moved to Massachusetts to be closer to his father. Interested in getting training in a field that really needs kind, caring people, Nicko was referred to TRA-Fitchburg’s SNAP Path to Work Program by the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA). After learning about TRA’s partnership with The Fieldstone School for nursing assistant training, he wasted no time in enrolling in our program where he achieved certificates in Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, and CPR/AED, followed by a nursing assistant position at a local nursing facility. "I am grateful for the opportunity that Training Resources of America gave me so I could get my CNA certificate. It was something I always wanted to do, and I'm glad that I got a job right after," says Nicko.

Nicko finished the program right before the onset of COVID-19 and as an “Essential Worker” has been diligently applying his skills to serve the most in need during this difficult time.

According to Jen Chaves, TRA-Fitchburg’s Assistant Manager and SNAP Path to Work Case Manager, “Nicko was such a pleasure to work with and we are proud of his accomplishments!”

Congratulations, Nicko!
