My name is Jessica Santos and I am a mother to four beautiful children. I had my first child at a young age, and I, unfortunately, left high school to take better care of my baby girl. Being a teen mom came with many challenges for me, but luckily I have always had a strong determination to succeed in life.

After going through a few different programs to receive my high school diploma, I realized those programs in particular were not working for me. Although they didn't work out, I never lost hope! I kept my faith strong because I knew, without a high school diploma or equivalency I wouldn't be able to be successful. Thankfully, I was then referred to Training Resources of America, Inc. (TRA) through The Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA).

Joining TRA was one of the best choices that I've made in my life! At TRA, everything changed for me! I was so determined to pass my High School Equivalency Test (HiSET). I give a HUGE THANK YOU to Barbora Hazuková (TRA-South Shore Regional Manager and Bethaney Price (TRA-New Bedford YPP Instructor)! I absolutely could not have done this without either of them. They walked me right through all subjects I needed assistance with; all questions I had were answered for me! Barbora and Bethaney kept my head in the game, and gave me such motivation to do better every single day. Before I knew it, I had taken my tests and successfully passed all subjects on the first try. The fact that my instructors have made it their job to work with young parents who are in need of help finishing school is absolutely amazing to me. I am truly thankful for both of them in helping me to succeed and receive my high school equivalency credential!

After that, I then enrolled into Lifestream, a program that certifies people to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). I now today have successfully completed the LifeStream program for CNA, and am now enrolled in Bristol Community College!!! My ultimate goal is to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

From being a young mother, joining TRA, joining LifeStream, and now enrolling into college, I am beyond thankful and grateful for where my life is now. THANK YOU TRA!
