Twenty-year old, Savannah Vigeant is a single mom with an almost two-year old son named Oakland. Originally from South Carolina, Savannah came to New Bedford, Massachusetts to live with her aunt and make a new beginning in her life. She had attempted various GED prep classes, but nothing worked out for her.

Then in March 2016, the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) referred her to TRA-New Bedford’s Young Parents Program (YPP). “I had a great experience with Training Resources of America in New Bedford,” says Savannah. “Before I attended the Young Parents Program, I was very stuck, and did not have the motivation to get my diploma on my own. After only three months of attending the Young Parents Program at TRA, I completed the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET), and received my diploma! I am now ready to take the next step in life, thanks to all of my hard work, effort and, of course, the help I received at TRA! Thanks Vicki (TRA-New Bedford YPP Instructor)!”

With her High School Equivalency Diploma in hand, Savannah has decided to move back to her hometown in South Carolina, where she will be attending a pharmaceutical school.

CONGRATULATIONS SAVANNAH! WE WISH YOU AND YOUR SON ALL THE BEST!
